Helping communities impacted by drought, bushfires and floods
We have once again partnered with GIVIT this Easter to donate $180,000 to help Aussie communities recover from floods, bushfires and prolonged drought. Selected paint products purchased during the Easter period helps us further contribute to this cause.
Taubmans and GIVIT have been partnering for the ‘In it Together’ campaign since 2019 and have donated $355,000 to over 70 GIVIT community projects nationally. These donations have gone to the purchase of items like paint, lawnmowers, bedding, washing machines, local business vouchers and more. Donations of everyday items have an enormous impact on families recovering and rebuilding for a better future.
GIVIT’s CEO Sarah Tennant said, “Requests for assistance have doubled on the GIVIT platform since the beginning of the pandemic. Australian communities are now forced to deal with the impact of natural disasters on top of the challenges of COVID-19, making the recovery process more complex.”
Support has also been pledged for refurbishing the flood-affected Bangladeshi Centre in NSW. The centre was severely affected by the March 2021 floods. The centre was started to support the Bengali cultural traditions for generations to come. They are now in the later stages of repairing the centre, and their group is now able to come together again for their regular meetings and celebrations.
The ‘In it Together’ campaign has also supported the town of Cobargo which was an area surrounded by bushfires on New Year’s Eve 2019. Many residents had no choice but to gather on the oval at the showgrounds to shelter, with nowhere else safe to go. The Cobargo Green Recovery Group is committed to supporting important town refresh projects, with projects like new Basketball Courts and park facilities in the works.
“If the last couple of years has taught us anything it’s that taking care of our local communities and the places we live is what truly matters to supporting a safe and prosperous way of life,” said David Nicholls , Australia.
Not-for-profit donation platform GIVIT works with more than 4,300 support organisations across Australia to ensure people get what they need, when they need it.
“Requests for assistance have doubled on the GIVIT platform since the beginning of the pandemic,” said GIVIT CEO Sarah Tennant. “Australian communities are now forced to deal with the impact of natural disasters on top of the challenges of COVID-19, making the recovery process more complex.”
“We’re grateful to Taubmans for supporting our work in community recovery projects and look forward to another successful Easter campaign.”
The In it Together paint drive will run from 1 March to 31 May 2022. During this period, a portion of the sales of select four-litre Taubmans paints at participating stores contributed to the donation.
